The Challenge
BPC Interiors were using fixed, finger-print software on their larger sites to manage the attendance of their teams. However, this was getting frustrating for various reasons: (1) the fingerprint reader would often not work, or or lose connection when registering; (2) getting the information from the machines was long-winded; and (3) they would never be able to have a ‘live’ view of who was where and when.
On their smaller sites they were using paper sign-in sheets which had all the problems associated with paper - illegible writing, not always reliable and time-consuming getting the information back to the office every day / week.

1| Live Skills & Certs!
BPC Interiors have found the skills feature on Chime incredibly helpful. With all their teams skills & certificates uploaded onto the platform, they can see immediately who has what and when it expires. As Stuart Dowling, Ops Director, states “At a glance I can tell live if I have a first aider on site and I can plan ahead to make sure every site has the correct competencies at any given point.’
2| Seamless & Easy signing in and out
Moving from their fingerprint hardware solution to the chime app has made time and attendance so easy. BPC Interiors now know exactly who is working what hours in real time. Not only has this reduced the amount of phone calls back and forth, but it has meant the work days are more productive too with their guys clocking in and out at the right times - not leaving early!
3 | Who is Where
BPC Interiors have found the ‘Who is on site’ feature very valuable, especially for the Directors. From the Chime app, they can quickly determine exactly how many guys are at any of their sites, filter it down by trade and how many hours have been worked. This has been useful for discussions with Main Contractors / Clients when they want to clarify how many guys are on site.
4 | Company Wide Safety Notices
BPC Interiors are using Chime to quickly get company-wide Safety notices out which previously would have been managed on paper which was time-consuming and unreliable. Now they can get a report, in minutes, of everyone who has read and digitally signed a safety document. As Stuart says “We recently sent out a company-wide safety document and by 9am every person in the company had read and digitally signed it”
5 | More time to focus on day job!
An added benefit from using Chime has been the responsibility it now places on the individual to correctly sign in and out each day. After an initial ‘grace’ period, their guys now understand the importance of using Chime for getting paid each week. This takes the pressure off the site managers of collating, remembering and managing their guys hours each day so they have more time to focus on their actual day job!
